Observation report
This report includes information about analyzing and observing teacher’s lessons, how they prepared to the lesson and what kind of method do they use during their teaching, for different grades. I observed lesson of my group mates, their techniques of teaching second language. To teach English as a second language successfully, an ESL teacher needs to engage students in various kinds of activities to improve students’ reading and writing abilities, as well as offer more activities to practice their speaking and listening abilities. Teacher needs to teach students skills, strategies, and other knowledge and consider other important issues that may affect their English language learning.
During my passive practice I participated of my peer’s lessons. I decided to enter my peers who were teaching seven - grade pupils. I studied the methods of teaching English, and what modern approaches they use. She was strictly followed the lesson plan, at the beginning of the lesson she started with the greeting, then a warm-up in the form of a game to arouse the interest of students during the lesson. She used different cards for the game because most of the students are visual learners. Then, when the children had already become active, the teacher began by checking homework, everyone took turns answering at the desk, some students were not ready for lessons, but most of them fulfilled the standard. This is followed by an explanation of the new topic, she uses body language, writes examples on the blackboard to make it easier to remember and understand the essence of this topic.
For instance, I learnt how to make students more active and productive during the lesson because interest is the first step of the knowledge. I understood only writing is not a key of the learning foreign languages it can be boring for most of students. For this reason, she always use several types of teaching methods as vocabulary games, playing role, mini competitions and etc. Of course all these activities are exciting and beneficial!
