Abstract 
Though the Azerbaijani and Uzbek languages are belonged to separate semi-
groups of the Turkic languages, these languages have ancient, affluent, common 
historical roots and they preserve their own cultures, language features. Even each 
two nations are proud of their own histories, arts. The historical relations, 
proximities of these nations can be presented more appropriately in the field of 
lexicography. According to it, the historical-cultural value of the “Azerbaijani-
Uzbek and Uzbek-Azerbaijani dictionary” attracts attention. The lexical units more 
than 12 thousands found in the dictionary (compilers are the professors Ismayil 
Mammadli, Almaz Ulvi Binnatova; literary critic, linguist Babakhan Mahammad 
Sharif and orientalist-philologist Shahista Kamranli). Both the practical and 
scientific importance of dictionary is great. The dictionary has the great advantage 
as an important aid in the research of each two languages comparatively.

Резюме 
Несмотря на то, что азербайджанский и узбекский языки относятся к 
различным подгруппам тюркских языков, эти языки имеют древние, богатые, 
общие исторические корни и сохраняют свои традиции, языковые 
особенности. Эти народы гордятся своей историей, искусством. 
Исторические отношения, близость этих стран в более подходящым форме 
представляются в области лексикографии. В этом плане “Азербайджано-
узбекский и узбеко-азербайджанский словарь” привлекает внимание. В этом 
словаре имеет место более 12 тысяч лексических единиц (составители: 
профессор Исмайыл Маммедли, Алмаз Ульви Биннатова, литературовед, 
лингвист Бабахан Мухаммед Шериф и востоковед-филолог Шахиста 
Камранлы). Практическая, в том числе научная важность словаря большая. 
Большую пользу имеет словарь как важный элемент для сравнительного 
изучении обоих языков.
