Exercise 1. ( Reading and working on vocabulary). Read the text about “What are you the best at” and learn the
meaning of the highlighted words.
I tried hard and won the award Young Musician of the Year competition. I think
I have musical abilities. I want to be a famous pianist. (Gayrat, 13) I trained
properly and set a new national record for the long jump. I think I've achieved
much, but my ambition is to win the Olympics, to be a top sportsman and a
professional. (Jahongir, 14). I go in for horse-riding and my greatest
achievement was when I was in the Uzbek team at the European
Championships. Our team won the bronze medal. My ambition is to win a gold
medal, but I have to work hard to get what I want. (Jamila, 15) I won the Young
Cartoonist of the Year Award. I've always enjoyed drawing and I have ability in
drawing. I think it's necessary to practise hard to be really good at something.

Exercise 2. Read and speak. Read ones more the text in Exercise № 1and proves the following

Grammar notes: Revision of Present Perfect /Past Simple
Present perfect simple: have/ has + past participle been, gone, worked and etc. Use the present
perfect when there is a connection between the past and the present. Example: I have set a record.
Have you ever lost any sport games?
Past simple: was/were, did, won, stopped;
Use the past simple for finished action
Example: Last year I set a national record. I didn’t have time to do my homework.
