Selungur Cave is an ancient settlement in the Sokh district of the Fergana Valley. Selungur is located about 100 km southwest of Fergana, on the western edge of Haydarkon. This huge cave is 120 m deep, 34 m wide and 25 m high. Archaeological excavations have been carried out since 1980. Five cultural layers 20-40 cm thick were found in the cave. They are divided into clean layers (30-100 cm) without any archeological remains. This indicates that primitive people lived in this cave five times and left their homes for a long time. A rich collection of stone tools, animal bone remains and archanthropic human remains (10 teeth and a fragment of the shoulder bone) were found here. The collection includes hand picks, large stone scrapers and knives, and a large number of engraved serrated weapons. They are mainly made of jade, silica flint, silica limestone. Bone remains of 32 species of wild, ungulates, small mammals and rodents will be found and studied in the culture layers. As a result of research The natural conditions of the period, the chronological period of the climate were determined. The materials found in Selungur were studied in a complex way and the date of the lower layers is 1 million years. year. Prior to that, the history of Central Asia, including Uzbekistan, dates back to the Middle Paleolithic (100 thousand years BC).
