Alveolar ducts and alveolar sacs are connected to terminal bronchioles by respiratory
bronchioles. Each alveolar sac resembles a bunch of grapes and contains 20 to 30 spherical alveoli. Air
enters the alveolar sac's atrium before moving
into the alveoli, where it exchanges gases with the capillaries.
The airways are kept moist and flexible by the mucous secreted into them by mucous glands
