Problem development status: Several approaches and research traditions exist within interpreting studies. The complex task of Simultaneous Interpretation (SI) might be viewed as a psycholinguistic experiment designed to test how the processes of speech production, speech perception, translation and monitoring operate simultaneously. In addition, the process of SI can also be seen as a special case of speech production in noise. The psycholinguistic approach to SI has been particularly influential during the early years of interpreting research. More recent psycholinguistic research on SI includes research on self-repair mechanisms in SI, speech production in SI, slips of speakers and their correction by interpreters, and disfluencies in simultaneous interpreting. Simultaneous interpretation revolutionized the interpretation industry, as it allowed the interpreters to convey the information much more quickly, with much more accuracy, and permitted a true exchange of ideas from one person to another, regardless of the language being spoken. This form of interpretation proved so popular that the United Nations adopted Resolution 152 in 1947, which made simultaneous interpretation a permanent service. Consequently, the United Nations provides simultaneous interpretation services among each of their six official languages.
Simultaneous interpretation, like language itself, has evolved over the years. These days interpreters use soundproof booths and portable transmitters, but the basic idea has remained the same – to render one language into another with minimal delay while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
The purpose of the research: to identify main concepts and features of simultaneous interpretation and modern technical approach and ways to prompt innovative technology at meetings and conference; to justify the expediency of conceptual changes in interpreter training in the context of modern simultaneous interpretation technologies and to identify ways of developing their information and technology competence as the basis for these changes.
The objectives to achieve the purpose of the research are as following:
1. to research main concepts and definitions of simultaneous interpretation;
2. to identify theoretical aspects of simultaneous interpretation in use;
3. to clarify the ways of using simultaneous interpretation at international meetings;
4. to analyze the effectiveness of integrating simultaneous interpretation.
