19. Acculturation in Ayad Akhtar's
“Disgraced
” : A Psychoanalysis Study

(Abstract)
This critical study of the concept of Acculturation is based essentially on John Berry's theory of
Acculturation concerning Ayad Akhtar's famous play
Disgraced
(2013).
Acculturation occurs when individuals are exposed to various cultures, both their own and those
they visit (host culture). People leave their countries to adapt to new cultures, values, languages,
and behaviors due to immigration, business, and other political difficulties. As a result, refugees,
immigrants, and asylum seekers are spotlighted.
This study stresses the main reasons for the failure of Assimilation and how it prefers integration
for not erasing immigrants' identities and rejects both marginalization and Separation for not
feeling more psychological stress.
Finally, it refutes stereotypes and misconceptions about Islam, Prophet Muhamed (All Prayers
and Blessings of Allah be upon him), and how Islam supports violence/extremism, attacks arts,
humiliates women by encouraging wives' beating and embracing Veiling, rejects peaceful
coexistence and rationality.
19. Overcoming Difficulties in Properly Translating English Phrasal Verbs among ESL

Managing them may seem like a huge task. In this work, I will look at what phrasal verbs are and
why students often find them difficult to learn and use, as well as provide them with several
practical activities that will help them teach and master the phrasal verbs.
