Final lines on the portrait of researcher of the Soviet-era. The above-mentioned reorganization in 1985 led to the creation of works and articles in Moscow and some other cities that were full of new facts about history. In the official historical circles of Azerbaijan, however, everything went on as usual, but the crisis of history further deepened. The endeavors of the group of authors who published a book titled "Soviet Azerbaijan: Myths and Realities" in 1987 (A.Abdullayev, A.Hajiyev, U.Guliyev, Y.Dashdamirov, A.Zargarov, F.Kocharli, B.Gurbanov, R.mehdiyev, A. Rzayev) only causes disappointment.
The situation changed with the launch of national movement in late 1980s. However, most historians of Azerbaijan who studied Soviet era still refused to become honest, repent of their activities or look through the hidden, distorted historical facts again and acknowledge the truth. Because they hesitated “what if they (the Russian) come back”.
The suspension of the CP of Azerbaijan and other changes put an end to hopes. Those who became candidates of historical sciences, doctors, professors, and academicians due to their works about Soviet government did not have enough courage to deny these titles and privileges and showed the same enthusiasm towards the struggle against Soviet power.
About historical sources. Historical sources have many definitions. If we have to mention them briefly without repeating them here, we can call them a document or material that reflects any historical fact about the past. A fact is turned into a source by the author (fact-author-source). That is why, the author's position affects the nature of the source.
The range of historical sources was initially limited, and over time, it contained more material.
Historical research is based on historical sources. Sometimes the discovery of a new historical source or the reading of a known source in quite different type can change the historical perspective or distort it. In order to determine the significance and professional value of a historical work, first of all, it is necessary to consider the sources based on which it was written and what new sources it brought to the scientific content.
