Abstract
Due to their nomadic lifestyle, on horseback, the ancient Turks spent
more time in nature in
terms of both their lifestyle and the geographical location in which they were, and they had the
opportunity to establish close proximity with animals. Animals took an important place
in the life of
the Turks, becoming a motive in fields such as literature, art and architecture.
The most common of
the many elements from start to finish in Oguzname with Uyghur script, which is known to be the
oldest version of this epic, which is an important part of the Turkish epic tradition, are animals. Oguz
Kagan, who has been in close relationship
with animals since his birth, has direct relationships with
some animals in the epic, but has no relationship with some of them, and these animals take place in
the background of events or are only mentioned in the epic.In
this study, the image of animals in
"Oguzname" with Uyghur letters was investigated in connection with the image of Oguzkagan, and the
animals with which he contacted were listed in the order in which they appear in the epic. The study
was based on the study of Wili Bang and Reshit Rahmeti Arat entitled "The Epic of Oguz-Kagan", and
examples were given in the framework of this study.
