Presentation
1.I show
students
presentation
and have students repeat
the keywords after me .
Then, I ask students to
say each word on their
own.
2.
Once students have
practiced the sports
vocabulary enough, I
will teach students the
target expressions for
the lesson. For the
purpose of this lesson
plan, we will be teaching
“
Are you good at
(soccer)
“, “
Yes, I am.
“,
“
No, I’m not.
“, however,
feel free to teach any
expressions you like.
3.
After practicing
together as a class, we
will practice some more
by tossing a soft ball
around the class and
asking individual
students about what
sports they are good at.
The student with the
ball must answer the
question, and then that
student gets to toss the
ball to another student
in the class. We will
continue like this until
all students have had a
chance to speak.
.
30min
Sports flashcards,
sports worksheet,
information gap
activity sheets,
writing production
sheet,ball
We will Place students
into groups of three or
four to play a game with
the flashcards. First
students deal out all the
cards. The first student
takes an athlete card
from his/her hand and
chooses another student
to ask a question to. For
example, if the athlete is
Yao Ming, the student
asks, "What sport does
he do?" If the second
student has the
matching sport card,
he/she responds, "He
plays basketball." If the
second student does not
have the matching sport
card, he/she responds, "I
don't know." Then
another student takes a
turn. The object is to find
all the matches.
Clear instruction is
important aspect in
classroom
management.
I will give
clear instruction before
letting studens to do
the task.First I will
show them how to
complete the task and
then ask them to
continue.If I notice
some misunderstanding
on their face I will come
up to them and give
them detailed
explanation.Another
important factor is time
management.I will set a
timefnd periodically
warn them about time.
After giving
clear instruction
I will observe my
students work in order
to check whether they
are doing the task
appropriately
and of course while
they are discussing
in pairs I will listen
to them and make
some notes of their
mistakes. While they are
doing the task based on
listening, I wiil not move
around and stand back
in order not to interrupt
them. I have to be sure
that class runs
smoothly. When I notice
mistakes in learners talk
and written tasks I
make a note
of them and give
feedback after the
activity by discussing
them in a whole group
without mentioning
who made them. Also
commenting on some
students’ well
-doing of
the activity can be worth
praise at the end to
motivate them
for future activity
2. Table
To be or
Present Simple
Affirmative
I am good at soccer
Negative
I am not good at
swimming
Interrogative
Are you good at
(soccer)
?
Yes, I am
,
No, I’m not
.
All grammars will be
teached through
inductive way
Highly
controlled
practice
In this activity, students
will walk around the
class and survey their
classmates about what
sports they are good at
and not good at. We will
hand out worksheets
and give one to each
student. There are 12
sports on the worksheet
and so students must
talk to 12 different
students about the
sports they are good at
.
20
Are you good at
soccer?
No , I’m not
I am good at
swimming.
She is good at
swimming and etc.
Classwork
During this activity
there will be noise or
unwillingness to
work.In this case I will
come up to them or
simply have a look at
them and wait whether
there will be reflection
on this..
In this part of the
lesson students are
able to communicate
with each other, so it
is a good idea to
monitor them by
walking around the
classroom, mostly
behind them - out of
the vision field. This
activity provides them
practicing language.
Again I keep taking
notes on the paper I
hold about their
mistakes and good
sitespretending not to
be doing so.
Feedbacks can be
given then at the end.
Moderately
controlled
practice
Next, it’s time to play a
fun guessing game. Play
the above video in class
and ask students to
guess what sport it is
before the picture is
revealed. After each
round, pause the video
and ask students if they
are good at that sport.
20
I divide students into two
groups and say that
winner group will get
prize .
Before starting the
activity I set a
time.During activity I
have to control the
noise and discipline,but
of course in polite way.
After giving the
instructions I start
observing my
students, but this
time I prefer
monitoring them
with no motion
around the
classroom. I choose
an appropriate
position for
observation. When
they are on task, I
can walk around and
help them if they need
it. I will notetheir
drawbacks , so that I
can give my feedback
at the end of the
activities. I can give
my feedback on their
mistakes in language
usages without
mentioning their
names.Also positive
feedback will be
appropriate for
encouraging them .
.
Free practice
This time we are going to
play "Shoot the Basket".
We need a waste paper
basket or just a
cardboard box. Also, we
take a piece of paper and
screw it up into a ball.
Get everybody to stand
up and form a line, each
student behind the other,
one line per team. We put
the basket at the other
end of the classroom. We
hold up a review
flashcard
–
the first
student in the first team
has to say the vocab
correctly to have a shot
at the basket with the
screwed up paper ball. If
correct, We let him/her
take a shot.
15
Basket and ball
I ask students to work in
2 teams .
Again clear explanation
of the task and one
model of it will be an
important aspect of
classroom
management.Setting a
time and rearranging
the responsibilities of
the students will give
them opportunity to use
language.
I rearrange seating so
that all students are
visible from where I stay.I
will monitor groups
randomly and don’t spend
much time with one.I will
give feedback
collectively,not
individually,by writing
them on the blackboard
and letting students to
recognize mistakes
themselves.That will built
a positive class
atmosphere.Students
themselves can give
feedback to their peers
showing good results.
Perform
While observing and monitoring the class performance, students participation and interaction with each other we can get clear idea whether they have clear understanding of the
theme or not. This can be seen in the last 2 stages of the lesson. What I usually do in my classes ,I use stickers like smiles and reward them for their correct respond or use competitive
activities and show their grades on the blackboard.
