Properties and Preparation of Chitosan and Polymer Blends
In recent years, the studies on the hydrogels are growing importance, because of their importance on the tissue engineering, medical research and food research area.
In this study, chitosan/alginate and chitosan/PCL hydrogels were prepared and their morphological and thermal properties were analyzed by comparing each other.
Swelling properties of hydrogels were investigated in PBS buffer solutions and ultra distilled water.
In order to study the effect of temperature on swelling properties of hydrogels, the experiments were done in three different temperatures.
Besides that, the morphological analysis were studied by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR). For this purpose, the characteristictic peaks of the FTIR spectroscopy of the pure polymers and binary gels were compared. The termal properties of the gels were analyzed by using Differential Scanning Colorimeter (DSC).
The results of swelling experiments show that the swelling properties of the hydrogels are strongly dependent on the temperature and swelling medium.
