Clutter Cancellatıon Methodes in Radar Images
Radar is the fundamental devices used in land, air and sea applications. In the imaging process, one of the important problem faced in the automatic recognition of targets in radar images is that the clutter signals which interfere with target signals, have significant energy levels. In the imaging processes, it is difficult to discriminate target signals because of the clutters. In order to depress the clutter signals in radar images, different kind of clutter cancellation techniques are used such as Adaptive Wavelet Packet Transform (AWPT), direct thresholding and statistical modelling.
In this thesis, clutter cancellation techniques in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images were investigated and these techniques were implemented to real Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. The methods which are direct thresholding and statistical modelling were implemented to SAR images and their performances were compared. As real image data, MSTAR SAR data set was used and the methods were implemented to MSTAR target images for target detection.
In terms of the target clutter cancellation performance, it is seen that the method statistical modelling gives better results than direct thresholding method.
